Quick Update on the Animal Cruelty Bill

Hi Reader,

You might remember I emailed recently about SB1234 — the bill to update Arizona’s outdated animal cruelty laws.

Thanks to public pressure, that bill has been given a second chance... but it’s still stuck. Now it’s called SB1658, and it’s waiting for a vote in the House.

It’s time to push this over the finish line.

SB1658, a bill that would establish bare minimum standards of care for pets, is currently stalled in the Arizona House. This bill could make a real difference for dogs living in unsafe or neglectful conditions — but it won’t move forward unless Representative Montenegro allows it to come to a vote.

That’s where we come in.

Arizona Humane Society is organizing a rally to show public support and urge lawmakers to take action. If you're local and able, this is a powerful way to speak up for animals who can’t advocate for themselves.
